How to get your Gold CSCS Card?

If you want to get a gold CSCS card, or renew it, then you must have a recognised NVQ level 3 (advanced craft) or level 4 (site supervisor).

By taking this level 4 NVQ in Tunnelling, you will be eligible for the gold CSCS card and support a greater chance of employment and career advancement in construction.

The NVQ Level 4 Construction Site Supervision – Tunnelling course is designed for supervisors and assistant managers in the construction industry, specifically those in tunnelling roles. This qualification is ideal for those aiming for their Gold CSCS Card. As the course requires practical, on-the-job experience, you’ll need to be employed in a suitable role and be at least sixteen years old to enrol.

To renew your CSCS card, you must have the appropriate NVQ. Due to new regulations, industry accreditation or experience alone is no longer accepted for renewal. You now need the correct assessment credentials, such as an NVQ.

If you’re renewing a Gold CSCS card, you’ll need either a Level 3 NVQ in an advanced craft or a Level 4 NVQ in site supervision, like the one offered in tunnelling. This change has been introduced to formally raise the skills and knowledge of construction workers across the UK.

  • Obtain an NVQ Level 6: Complete an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management, demonstrating your skills and knowledge.
  • Get a Black CSCS Card: Achieve the NVQ Level 6 qualification to be eligible for the Black CSCS card, which is necessary for Managing onsite.
  • Meet Additional Requirements: Fulfil other requirements, such as relevant work experience and passing the CITB Health, Safety, and Environment Test.
